Can you define Light’s criteria?

According to Light’s criteria, pleural fluid is an exudate if one of the following is identified from the pleural fluid analysis:

Ratio of pleural fluid protein to serum protein is >0.5.

Ratio of pleural fluid lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) to serum LDH is >0.6.

Pleural fluid LDH is >2/3 times the laboratory’s upper limit of a normal range for LDH.
